Every year millions of kids in Australia hang out for the CBCA Book Awards. So do their parents, teachers and librarians - not to mention authors, illustrators and publishers!

There are categories for every type of reader and for every age group. The judges take enormous care to select works that are relevant, well written, engaging, and often challenging.

Here comes the judge!

Launceston's Carol Fuller is the Tasmanian representative on the Interstate Judging Panel for the 2008-2010 judging term. She replaces Ricki Barrett, who has done a magnificent job for Tasmania over the past two years, and now has the chance to read some adult books for a change!

Carol is a retired teacher with more than 37 years' experience across all school sectors. She has held many positions of responsibility within the Education Department and at university. She continues to work in schools on both a paid, contractual basis and as a volunteer. Carol is an avid and passionate reader of both adult and children's literature. She is a keen book club member, and is currently the President of Launceston Zonta Club.

Carol will start reading for the 2009 Short List in April 2008. Watch this website for information on when and where Carol will be speaking about the entries for next year's Awards!
